Social and Networking Events

The Symposium program included mid-morning and mid-afternoon breaks on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday for networking.  In addition, the poster session on Tuesday morning allowed for interaction between attendees and paper authors to learn more about recent and current projects on urban streets.  The poster session included breakfast for all registered attendees, beginning approximately 30 minutes prior to the official start of the poster presentations, to allow attendees to meet with one another and with the poster authors at a relaxed pace.

The sponsoring TRB committees held their mid-year committee meetings on Wednesday afternoon, and other subcommittee meetings were scheduled for early morning and late evening times, to allow attendees to be involved in committee activities without conflicting with the Symposium program.

Social activities on Monday and Tuesday evenings provided great opportunities to network with attendees and experience the features of the Raleigh area.  Monday evening’s activity was a formal Welcome Reception event at Raleigh’s NC Museum of Natural Science’s Nature Research Center, and Tuesday evening was a casual event featuring a North Carolina Pig Pickin’ at Mordecai Historic Park.
